Thanks for your help Gordon...It's looking like a permissions issue. In the C:\GeoREST\data folder if I include a "Write" permission to either the Servername\Users or Servername\IIS_USRS accounts then the georest demos work. Without the write permission then I get the error as previously posted. Does this make sense?
