I concur.  If you really want to run the latest version of software, shouldn't 
that apply to the OS as well?

2.6 won't have any alternate installation method for XP/2003. Not even the 
MgInstantSetup bundle will work.

The reason is because the codebase has moved to VS2012 as the defacto windows 
compiler. VS2012 compiled code will not run on XP/2003 unless we compile the 
code with the Windows XP targeting pack.

I *really* don't want to waste build resources to build/verify 2.6 to support a 
version of Windows that will be end-of-life several months after the scheduled 
release of 2.6.
