For 2) you should check whether the "&" in the password is actually written
as "&" in the XML or not. "&" indicates a failure in MapGuide/FDO to
properly unescape it, "&" indicates a failure in Maestro/Studio to properly
escape it.

But you shouldn't have passwords stored plaintext in the Feature Source XML
in the first place for security reasons. Once upon a time, Maestro was not
able to write username/password to MG_USER_CREDENTIALS and use %MG_USERNAME%
and %MG_PASSWORD% placeholder tokens to represent these values. But that's
all in the past, Maestro can do this now.
