Well, the MapGuide API has to be exposed and work in 3 different platforms
(.net/Java/PHP), so there's bound to be some boilerplate involved and
inserting features is unfortunately the most boilerplate-y part of the
MapGuide API.

Maestro API is all .net, so we can take advantage of every .net-ism in our
API design
