Ok,
I got it working. I added all the "new" dlls from the ..\SDK\LocalNativeProvider\Lib\MapGuide into the applications bin-folder + the provider.xml. I registered the dll from the ProviderTemplate tool (OSGeo.MapGuide.MaestroAPI.Native-2.5.1.7601 (that is my aims)) as a reference to the application. Besides those tasks, I added the ../mapviewernet/bin as an environmental variable. Hope this helps those struggling with the same jungle..
Yeah, and my server is AIMS 2014.

I did some cleaning and ended up to this:

Unable to load DLL 'WebUnmanagedApi': The specified module could not
be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

Any ideas?

I can only think that it's picking up some other OSGeo.MapGuide.Web.dll and not the one that was signed and referenced when your LocalNative sources was
built by the ProviderTemplate tool.

You could try using the Assembly Binding Log Viewer to see what
OSGeo.MapGuide.Web.dll it's trying to load up
