There is no single list of maps that he owned. A minimal idea can be
obtained from a few pages in Susan Stein's _Worlds of Thomas Jefferson
At Monticello_, where the focus is on the items displayed at Monticello.
Coolie Verner wrote several articles that would give added information,
particularly with reference to the maps used for the preparation of
Jefferson's only printed map, "A Map of the country between Albemarle
Sound...." (_

Vol. 14, 1959, pp. 96-108). John Logan Allen has discussed the maps used
in planning the Lewis & Clark expedition, among other things. In terms
of getting an idea of what Jefferson new about and used, you really have
to go to his letters/papers. As you already noted, focusing on the
geography section of his "Great Library" is not enough (it is
interesting to note that the books he classifies with his geography
section numerically dwarf his section on architecture).
