I did not understand the interactive map on Slavery give in the New York Times, but the map itself is figure 101 in 'Maps, Finding Our Place in the World' page 188; article by Susan Schulten, pp. 187-88. Tom Goodrich PS I really like the cover of the book with an Ottoman map of part of the Nile by Piri Reis.
