The December (v.47, #4) issue of TREDYFFRIN EASTTOWN HISTORY
QUARTERLY has a two-page piece on Joseph Smith Harris with some mention
of his time with the Coast Survey during the US Civil War. Harris was a
local boy and is buried in the area. The information seems to be
filched from <wikipedia> and a few other sources. The website
www.tehistory.org <http://www.tehistory.org/> is a few years behind
mounting the contents of the QUARTERLY, but someday ..
