If anyone finds themselves in Clemson, SC, be sure to take a look at the maps hanging on the wall in John Calhoun's plantation office, the small building behind the main house http://www.clemson.edu/about/history/properties/documents/FortHill.pdf In addition to a circa 1835 Mitchell wall map of the U.S and an 1822 John Wilson map of SC, there is also a gorgeous example of John La Tourrette's map of Louisiana. And although it has significant condition issues, I still was quite thrilled to see John Robinson's 1819 map of Mexico, Louisiana, and the Missouri Territory. -- Jay Lester Chapel Hill, NC
