This is from MI 5.5's Support Notes --

Has this been causing a problem for anyone else? We frequently have maps

with what used to be and are supposed to be circles on top of grids. But in

5.5 the circles come out as ovals and we resort to have one computer with

5.0 to do these maps which is very frustrating.

Do you think MI should make it an option in Preferences to switch between

the old method and the new method -- starting with the next patch ? ?

Thanks,

Eric Frost

Creating a grid thematic map

In MapInfo Professional 5.5 the calculation for the number of rows and columns in a grid was changed. All of the grid cells must be square. In other words, a grid cell must have the same width and height size. This can affect the display of other vector layers.

Since grid cells are evenly spaced square cells, this can change the appearance of vector layers. It is most noticeable when a grid is created for a vector layer that is using a projection that does not have constant spacing in the horizontal or vertical, such as Lat/Long.

Once a grid has been created and loaded into a Map window, it can change the display of the current Map window. This is because raster and grid images determine which projection is used in a Map window.
