Hi

I has some friends in a Polish National Park (Wigry in the beautiful
north-east Poland), which has some problems with the setup for bathrymetric
surveying of their lakes.

They are using Mapinfo and Vertical Mapper for countoring and has both dGPS
equipment (Garmin Survey II) and a echo sounder (Furono).

The problem is about integration GPS and echosounder information.

The GPS outputs several NMEA sentences but can't merge the echosounder NMEA
sentence and produce a complete output with lat/long and depth.

They need at pice of soft/hardware which can take GPS NMEA sentences on one
port, Echosounder NMEA sentences on another and merge them togther to a new
complete sentence (and, if possibly, parse it to Geographich tracker as
points with depth as an attribite -ready for use in VM, but a simple NMEA
ASCII file would do the job).

Do you you know such a solution or could you give a clue about a free or
cheap solution for automatic bathymetric survey.
