I work with 5 different printers ( 2 plotter, 2 laser and 1 epson) and I
keep changing the setting to print differents sized maps.
Just today will I was working and a poster, I wanted this feature with
MapInfo. It would save time and effort. MapInfo 5.6 ;-)

Andrew Dressel presented new and future features for MapInfo Professional.
When he asked for comments and questions I brought up this very issue. Andy
stated that he not heard of this problem, recognized the issue and said he
would look into it. I'm sure we'll get a "fix" in the next release.
