I remember to have had this problem long time ago on MapInfo. It was a
problem between MapInfo and the video drivers.
The solution I had at the time was to find newer Video drivers or in
windows95 to remove the video acceleration from the control panel settings.
The "answer" from MapInfo, was that they followed the Video driver
implementation as per Microsoft but that cheap manufacturers didn't respect
it which was the reason for the crashes. It seems that a particular feature
of the video drivers is used by MapInfo only which leads that developpers
cannot test this feature when developping video drivers. The problem is
likely to be with the video drivers. Contact MapInfo as well as the video
card manufacturer for updates.
Cheers..

Subject: MI Grabber
About a year ago I complained of a similar problem, to the list, which
still persists.
Platforms include W95 & NT 4 SP3 & now 4 on a variety of Digital PC's with
different Video cards MI runtimes & Pro. V4.5
Problem: when the grabber is used the entire system locks up and has to be
rebooted.
In the cases where this is a problem I have had to remove the grabber from
the tool bar. It has been the only way I have been able to avoid this
problem.
