Hi Cliff, I have only recently heard about NavTech data being used in conjunction with a geocoding engine. I have only good things about their accuracy for the areas that they cover and I was hoping someone on the MapInfo L group could provide some feed back. I have cut and pasted a couple of items from the NavTech website. Derek 1. What can your database do for me that the other map databases can't? The NAVTECH database enables: - The best address location/geocoding in the industry - Optimized route sequencing - Legal routes and accurate driving directions - Dynamic route guidance - The most accurate vehicle tracking 4. How was the map database built? Is it simply a modified TIGER file (TIGER was created by the US government for census estimating purposes) or was it built with in-the-field research, aerial photos, proprietary state-of-the-art software and a thorough quality assurance and certification process? Only Navigation Technologies uses a tested systematic in-the-field research-build process. Navigation Technologies uses USGS quad sheets (for positional accuracy) combined with aerial photographs and field collected and verified data. Navigation Technologies is the only map database builder and supplier that does not use the highly inaccurate TIGER file. Every NAVTECH database goes through a rigorous quality assurance test and receives a release certificate before it is shipped. 5. How often is the map database updated? Who does the updating, where? Only the NAVTECH database is updated 4 times a year by a field network of more than 45 offices throughout North America. Our field staff drives more than one million miles a year performing extensive verification and validation of additions and changes to the road network. 6. When using the database for geocoding, what can I expect my address matching success rate to be? Is this to the exact street location or just 'in the neighborhood'? With Navigation Technologies you can reliably achieve an address matching success rate to the exact street location in excess of 95%. 7. Can the database produce legal driving directions? Can it produce them reliably? Only Navigation Technologies enables the creation of legal and reliable driving directions. 8. Does the database come with any sort of accuracy and completeness warranty? Only the NAVTECH database is backed with an accuracy and completeness warranty. 9. What is your expertise in building and maintaining map databases? Navigation Technologies was the first company to build a navigable map database and continues to be the global leader in map database construction and innovation. 10. What other companies use the map database for vehicle routing, scheduling and tracking or route guidance? The world's largest and most trusted companies use the NAVTECH database including Federal Express, the United States Postal Service, New York Times and Whirlpool for fleet scheduling and routing. Other companies that have chosen Navigation Technologies over the competition include BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lexus, Acura, Kenwood, Alpine, Honda and Toyota among many others. >From: "Clifford J.
