Correction: the altered table is still open - Mapinfo only removes it
from any windows, because the altered state may well be incompatible
with the way it originally was displayed.
If you have a ranges thematic and then changed the thematic field to
character type it would not work, OK?
So rather than performing all sorts of consistency tests, MI decides
that the user will have to re-display the table so that everything gets
right from the start.
