You might find some useful stuff in

course titled "GIS and Mining & Exploration". Sorry for the
broken images there, but even though it was written in
Microsoft's FrontPage, the Microsoft software running the server
there keeps destroying the layout every time we try to fix it.
However, these pages work fine when viewed locally, so if you
have the time, you can download this 14MB file and set it up on
your own machine by pointing your browser to
http://www.directionsmag.com/mapinfo-l/files/gis_1999.zip.
