The results of the overlaynodes function appears to have changed in version 5.5.
On previous versions, if you had 2 simple polylines that intersected at a single
point, the result was a polyline with an extra node added to it.
With version 5.5, the resulting object is now a polyline made up from 2 sections which
start / end at the intersection.
Is this a deliberate change or a bug resulting from the overhaul of the object editing
functions ?
