I hope you can help me with this problem. After opening an ODBC Access
Table manually inside MapInfo, I opened the MapBasic Window and started
inputting some code for testing purposes. The ODBC is already mappable
and a ODBC catalogue is already created.
The following is the code that we had inputted:
Dim x As Integer
Dim y As String
x = DDEInitiate("MSACCESS", "System") BEEP
y = DDERequest$(x, "??????") BEEP
note y BEEP
we added the Beep Statements to see where the code is not working.
The DDEiniate statement works because we heard the Beep. Remember that
Access is already opened so we can use the "system" statement.
The problem arises in the DDERequest$() statement. In Excel we would put
RICI, but what would we use to get an integer from a Form created in a
relational database.
The purpose is to open the ODBC table with only that record already
selected and defined as a global variable to be used throughout a
MapBasic Application. We don't want the entire database to open inside
MapInfo.
