This is, by all means, germane to a GIS list. Disaster planning and recovery
are among the most common and most important uses of GIS. Mapinfo specifically
is used very extensively by FEMA in flood analysis and planning. I personally
will be using a Mapinfo application to assess the impact of Floyd on over a
billion dollars of property owned by my employer. And, of course, I share
Sarah's concern for the human impact of such a disaster as well.
