I would respectfully suggest that you review your data structure if you
think you need that many fields. I find it difficult to imagine anyone
needing that many fields for any application unless fields are being
repeated. Most of the repetitive data could be strored simple three column
relational database with the values table ID, parameter, Value satisfies
most requirements (maybe 500 records for each ID), but with some
programming for data entry. Maybe date would also be neccessary (making a
total of 4 columns).

Does anybody know the maximum number of columns allowed in a table?
We might need to create one with around 500 columns in, but before I
attempt to I want to make sure it is technically possible.
