We presently use an in-house vessel tracking program
(MapInfo/MapBasic) for an oil company client. The oil company is
interested in having proper hydrographic charts as produced by the British
Admiralty (& presumably some department in the USA - Navy/Coast
Guard?) as backgrounds.
Does anyone know where I could get these? I have seen packages
available that use proprietary software to view the charts, but we need the
charts just as raster backgrounds for our existing software. They would
need to be worldwide charts, preferably in some format that isn't going to
produce massive charts that will slow MapInfo down too much. I would
think some different scale charts would be best, so we could turn on
different layers automatically as the user zooms in & out.
TIA,
Dave
