List participants: New free data sets, along with substantially improved functionality, is available at the Data Center at Directions Magazine: http://www.directionsmag.com/datacenter/ Among the new data are: * Q3 Flood Data derived from the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs)published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These show the various rate zones, based on predicted flooding frequency, used by the Federal Flood program. We open with a small sample, but soon will have up 348 counties from the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia. Available formats will include MapInfo (TAB) and ArcInfo (E00). * ETOPO5 is point elevation data (meters) generated from a digital data base of land and sea-floor elevations on a 5-minute latitude/longitude grid. The resolution of the gridded data varies from true 5-minute for the ocean floors, the U.S.A., Europe, Japan,and Australia to 1 degree in data-deficient parts of Asia, South America, northern Canada, and Africa. This collection is comprised of one raster file, and eight point files (four quadrants in each North / South hemisphere).
