MapInfo Runtime is full MapInfo Professional but with no menus set and
no toolbars. It is intended for developers who want to supply turnkey
systems and wo only need apart of MapInfos functionality.
No functionality is missing but I think if you wanted to expose all
functionality your project would not be approved as this would then
compete with Professional.
There are two versions - Runtime (Read only version) with which you must
not include any saves to tables that have been created or modified and a
Manipulator version which is not limited in this way - ie you can write
back to tables.
It should be available from your local MapInfo partner. Pricing is less
than full MapInfo Professional. To gie you some idea in the UK MapInfo
Professional sells for �1095. The Read only runtime is �300 and the
Manipulator version is �525.
One other limitation. Your end user must only use one MBX with the
runtime licence, whereas a user can run any MBX with a full
Professional.
We are a MapInfo partner in the UK and have used Runtime for projects
such as Map Production and creation of Gazetteers.
Incidentally you query came down four times - it was therefore hard to
ignore!
