Dear Sergio
MapBasic will do what you require. You asked about alternatives. One way
is to use Visual Basic and use OLE automation to drive MapInfo or other
development tools that support OLE such as Delphi.
You do not have to embed MapInfo in your development. VB and Delphi can
sit in the background sending instructions to MapInfo.
I think the general trend is moving this way as well.
