I use GIS in RF applications on a regular basis. I have used dB Planner and
while it is a very nice package and is intergrated well with MapInfo, it is
setup more for mobile and portable use (cellular & paging) and therefore is
not the best for my use (point to multipoint fixed wireless).

Most of my work involves running a propagation study using a dedicated tool
(EDX SignalPro), then exporting that data as a MIF file and using it in MI.
This allows me make use of the GIS capabilities within MI to create detailed
maps using data that may not be available in the propagation tool. I also
can use queries in MI to determine various coverage info, such as, how many
homes would receive a signal level greater than X, or how many homes with a
certain demographic profile are within line of sight?

Hope this helps,

If any of the honourable members in this list had done any research
or
had any info. about RF/CDMA and GIS applications/approaches. I will
appreciate if you share that info. with me. I understand that
applications like DeciBel and Vertical Mapper can be used for RF
propagation analysis and possibly the later version of Northwood sw
        application called "Virtual Frontier"???

I will much appreciate any info.

What I need to know is how GIS can help?
What capabilities are available in MapInfo/MapInfo add-ons or other
        softwares?

I have to prepare a one page briefing for my peers tomorrow and will
        appreciate any help from you.

        Thank you,
