Thanks Eric -

If you are ready I will bet there are heap of us out here willing to go the
distance as well.

No, I don't want to build a Internet system today. I am interested in how to use
8i and MapInfo on my desk or in our company's LAN (like a mapping center or
department).

Therefore, a sort of Sales question (maybe someone in marketing could give a hand
with this one).....

The rumor is "We understand that we don't have to invest $20,000 to make use of
Oracle with my MapInfo 5.5 Professional or MapX 4.0 environment. It can be had as
a trial for Free or as a legitimate single seat license at about $750. Right?"

A) Would you (or they) confirm that if you buy Oracle 8i Personal for $395 (or
down load or have the $5 CDROM of Personal 8i Trial system sent) that Spatial
Cartridge is in fact part of the TRIAL system or can be added for $360 per seat?
What Part Numbers do we need to get the basic Oracle configuration together?

B) Once we have the "spatialized" 8i Personal on our machines, what steps must be
taken to 1) place into the 8i spatial environment a set of TAB files from either
the 5.5 Professional CDROM or the MapX installation data sets? Once this is in
place, what are the simple steps any interested user, be them Oracle or MapInfo,
must do to access, display and program a small demo of say the San Francisco demo?

C) KISS

If you can lead us to this promised land in the next ten days or so, I would
suggest you go back to Marketing folks that helped you and us with A) to see if
this might hosted into MapInfo's WEB pages and/or handed out on a CDROM to all of
the developers coming to Florida.

I personally would prefer this "opportunity" over a bag, notebook, or a
"Conference" mug. This might also be a really neat gift to any Press (or
stockholders) that may be lurking at Marco. I know ESRI can not make use of the
Spatial Cartridge (today); can MapInfo?

Now that would be cool and in my mind a worthy investment of someone's time back
in Troy.
