You first need to ascertain what files your publisher can handle.
I obtained our local publishers W98 printer drivers and routinely print to
file (PRN files) for output directly on their machine.
I also had a query a month ago about Exporting to Photoshop on a MAC which
provided alternative solutions.
Below are two of the responses that I found most enlightening, I tried
saving the window in both the TIF & PSD formats, upsizing the output image
as suggested. Both worked well but the PSD file was much smaller.
Both were successfully imported in Photoshop on the Mac.
Belated thanks to all who responded to my query. Others included
suggestions to use the Adobe distiller to produce more generic postscript
files. I am not sure what the distiller is but have tucked those ones away
for future reference should the need to do the research arise.
Stan Johnston suggested saving the window as a Photoshop 3.0 format (MI v5.0
and later)
Brian Forrester suggested saving the window as a TIFF (works in earlier
versions of MI where PSD was not an option)
Both noted the need to upsize the save window to maintain resolution, Stan
provided the following calculations:
>If you want to export the layout window as a 3"x5" raster
>graphic that will print at 600 dpi and your screen resolution is at 72
>dpi, you need to do the following math:
>(600/72)x3 = width of custom pixels in 'Save Window As' custom output
>parameters.
>(600/72)x5 = height of custom pixels in 'Save Window As' custom output
>parameters.
