Bill,

The only way I have ever been able to consistently get custom symbols to
work with MI version whatever is to adhere to a strict format.

1. The symbol must be a perfect square.
2. The symbol cannot be larger that 350 x 350 pixels.
3. The symbol must be 8 bit.
4. The symbol must use the Windows color pallet. Use C-0, M-0, Y-7,
K-0 to simulate white.
5. The symbol must be a BMP file.
6. Symbols that do not adhere to the following standards and other file
types for that matter must not be in the Custsymb directory. If they are
then they can prevent other symbols from appearing in the menu.

I know that others have been successful with custom symbols that fall
outside of these constraints, but I can't seem to get custom symbols to work
otherwise.

Okay, this has been on the list about 4 or 5 times, but here
we go
again. I created bitmap at 16 bits and 32 bits (both under
2kb) and
placed them into the custsymb directory. When I open v5.5, I
reloaded
the cust symbols and still nada? Has anybody had this
problem with 5.5
or this general function? Any help would be great.
