Hello All,

I am trying to use Vertical Mapper to create region contours of the sea bed over an
area consisting of the North Sea. Irish Sea, Channel etc and edge of the Atlantic. My
problem is that I have a dataset consisting of high resolution data for part of the
North Sea and a courser resolution everywhere else. I can contour the high res.
section ok on its own. When I try and combine this with the courser data I have to
choose a fine grid over the whole area over which to thread the contours in order for
the fine res. section to be at the required resolution. Vertical Mapper creates the
grid but cannot cope with creating the contours because it "exceeds its limit of 32000
nodes." I could coursen the entire grid but then the section of high resolution data
is not contoured to an adequate resolution.

Is there a way to create widely spaced contours over a certain region and finely
spaced contours over another so that it does not try to thread lots of contours
through my course data ?

Alternatively is there a way to make a contour map of the course data and the high
resolution data seperately and combine them afterwards ? I have tried just overlaying
the high res. contours over the course ones but of course they do not match up well
and a distinct boundary is very clear. I can reshape the region contours but can't
'open them' to join onto others.

Is coursening the grid the only option ?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
