I've had similar problems with ODBC. My solution is to delete odbc*.* files
in the \winnt\system32 (or \windows\system) directory (if you want you can
first copy the files to another directory just in case...) and then install
ODBC. The latest version of ODBC is part of MDAC 2.1.something and can be
found on microsoft's homepage.
