you are correct in that with lots of working files it is easier to keep track
of what is what with a good filing - naming system. However, there is still
a gapping hole in the MapInfo system. What do you do about the odd ball
files or the older files that everyone has forgotten about? There should be
a file header in which you can write a few sentences describing what is in
the file. This header would be accessible from a pull down menu and would
not go away when the preference file was redone. There was a professor out
of Australia that had a freebie that did this, and I think there is a
commercial product, but this should be part of the MapInfo framework.
