AGI Cymru
Enabling Access to Geographic Information in Wales
Launch of AGI Cymru and one day Seminar
on Thursday 18 November 1999
at Cardiff City Hall, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF1 3ND
AGI Cymru is a new initiative to bring together all those agencies and organisations
in Wales who are using GI to foster efforts to work together and share data and
experience.
AGI Cymru have organised a major GI seminar and exhibition on 18 November 1999. The
day will finish with a reception to mark the formal launch of AGI Cymru. The aims of
the Conference mirrors those of AGI Cymru itself:
* to promote the use of GI on behalf of the residents, businesses and government of
Wales;
* to raise awareness of the value of GI to people and organisations throughout Wales
and to those who have an interest in Wales;
* to encourage agencies to work together on spatial data capture, maintenance and
sharing;
* to demonstrate the value of GI in all areas of work including agriculture,
conservation, culture, economy, education, emergency services, environment, health,
housing, transportation and tourism;
* to facilitate better decision making and service delivery to the residents,
businesses and government of Wales; and
* to develop a comprehensive website giving members interactive access to aid
awareness of existing GI data and information within and relating to Wales.
We are looking forward to an interesting and rewarding day, learning from the
experiences of others, making new contacts and promoting AGI Cymru and the use of
spatial or geographic information. Membership of the Group is open to anybody.
