Hi Keith,
I am not quite sure what you mean by "not through DBMS", I assume you mean
not using the Access security features to ensure the table is read only. You
probably know this but you can open an Access table as read only using
MapInfo where you tick the read only bit on the dialog. Looking at the tab
file created, the metadata definition contains the lines:-
"\DATALINK\MapReadOnly" = "TRUE"
"\DATALINK\DataReadOnly" = "TRUE"
I haven't tried it, but there must be a way to include this in the string
used in the mapbasic server_connect or Server_Execute statements?
Or is there....??

Subject: MI Opening Access Table as ReadOnly
Dear All,
Is it possible to open a Microsoft Access database table as
read-only in MapInfo (not through DBMS) using MapBasic?
If my experience is anything to go by, the answer is 'No',
but I would like this confirmed as the manual seems to
suggest otherwise.
Thanks,
Keith
