1. To get a scaled print- In layout view, double click the frame you wish to
scale. In the lower right corner of the dialogue box is "Scale on paper 1"
= _____" fill in the blank. This will change the size of the frame and you
sometimes have to go back to the map window and zoom in or out to get the
area displayed in layout correct. TIP- in layout select the frame and go to
Options> Region style ( or use the tool bar) and select N for the border and
N for Fill, now you can see your paper and move the borderless frame around
so that aligning the frame border with the paper border is not an issue, the
margins in page set up will act as a border. If you want a border, create
another frame with the frame tool, select N for fill of that one too, but
keep the border. Want a title block? Create a table for it, open that table
in a new map window, draw your title block and fill in the text, in layout
draw another frame and put the Title block map in it, again, select N for
the border of that frame.
2. GeoCoding Points - Open whatever table you have that contains the points
as a mapinfo table (just hit the open table tool, or go to File). To test
this, I picked a few known lat/long from my map by setting the status bar to
read "cursor location" from the Options menu > Preferences (lower left in
the dialogue box), created an Excel spreadsheet with a RowID, a string (last
names), Lats, and Longs. The Lat/longs must be in Decimal degrees, not
Degrees, Mins and Secs. There is MBX tool to convert called "DMS converter"
that will convert entire columns to decimal degrees. If your gathering
points w/ GPS set it to record in decimals. Now go to Table Menu > Create
Points. A dialogue box will ask you to associate the column with Longs to X
axis and Lats to Y axis, select a symbol and there ya go.
3. I'm not sure what you mean by realistic streets and buildings, but you
can create your own symbols with Symbols.MBX. Realistic? - I don't think
so. Maybe you could draw / take building perimeter from a CAD file and
import it as a DXF and register the extants w/ lat long (seems time
intensive to me). I have actually produced site plans with nothing but
Mapinfo, but it's easier in a CAD program.

Subject: MI : How do I create a projection of 1" = 100' for my base maps
Importance: High
Need to use this format for our base for everyday construction.
Need to create realistic streets and buildings also outside utility
locations etc. (Power & Telephone Poles & UG vaults).
Would like to use the Lat and Long system for geocoding of Customer &
Building locations. Not sure how to create such a view in MapInfo.
Am I wishing or is this a possibility?
Used AutoCAD in the past with some little success using Lat & Long 's
