Thanks very much to those who took the time to help me with my recent
problem regarding changing the selection style from MapBasic.
I realise now that I didn't frame the question very well because it may have
seemed that I wanted to change the style of the selected objects in the
underlying table. Actually I wanted to change the style that MapInfo uses
to highlight any objects selected by the user. Once this is changed,
selecting an object using any permitted method displays the selection in the
chosen style. In MapInfo Pro you can do this for line and region selections
through 'Options->Preferences->Map Window->Highlight Control' but there is
no way of accessing the same functionality from MapBasic (without invoking
the entire dialog).
Jacques Paris knew what I was after but, like me, came to the conclusion
that there is no wholly satisfactory way to do it from MapInfo.
