MI Recommendation on low-cost plotter

Hi Mappers:

Could someone offer advice for a relatively low-cost, low volume large
format (C, D and E-size) color plotters?

The HP DesignJet 1050C is nice and prices start at $7,500.  Does anyone
have experience with HP DesignJet 488CA (less than half the price of the
1050C)?  Will it handle large raster .tiff's from scanned USGS quads?
