I've never had a problem with any of the GIS DataDepot's .e00 files, ArcLink
always translates them just fine. The only stipulation I've found is that if
you download a boundary file called "ponet.e00," you *can't* rename the
file, otherwise ArcLink won't translate it. I have no idea why this is, but
as long as you download the file as "ponet.e00" and translate it with
ArcLink, then it should work fine (at least from my experience). Once the
files are in MIF or TAB format, then you can do Table -> Rename and you can
change "ponet" to whatever name you want.

Subject: MI GISDATADEPOT question

I've downloaded several political boundary files from
www.gisdatadepot.com <http://www.gisdatadepot.com> but have not been
able to import them into MapInfo.

The files are downloaded as ponet.e00 files but the Arcmap translator
reports errors and aborts, and a co-worker with the translator included
with MI5.5 can't read the .e00 files either.

Has anyone else had similar problems or, better yet, does anyone have a
solution for getting these files into the .mif or .tab formats usable in
MI?
