Thanks for those of you have replied, however I don't seem to have had a
response from anyone whom has had the same problem.

The problem:
I have a rectangle, which surrounds a polygon object of our Authority
boundary. The boundary object has 18015 line segments and is one complete
polygon. If I try to erase the boundary object from the rectangle, I get a
rectangle with a boundary shape inside. The result is a rectangle of 2
polygons and not 2 separate polygons.

If I digitise a smaller rectangle, which intersects the boundary in a number
of places, it works!

Therefore there must be a Line Segments threshold that is reached when the
boundary is wholly within the rectangle.

I have been using MapInfo since version 2 and have performed this operation
many times, with similar objects, with the expected results. Why has this
started happening in version 5/5.5 ?

Subject: MI Version 5.5 Bug?

Dear All,

I have a polygon which represents our Authority Boundary, I have drawn a
simple rectangle around it and done the usual Set Target and Object Erase.
However, MI 5.5 now returns an object consisting of 2 polygons instead of 2
objects.

This method always created two objects in previous versions is this a MI5.5
feature?
