Thanks to Bill Thoen, Wade Cothran and Eric Frost for the suggestions. Bill suggesting using the Windows 32-bit API (see: http://www.directionsmag.com/tools/default.asp?a=file&id=4), and Wade suggested something similar, but I liked Eric's neat little trick with the DOS command. "If you set up a text files with dir (check the switches using dir /?)there is a "bare" switch like "dir /b *.tab > mylist.txt", then read the list using File Open."
