Below is a message I sent to another list and did not get a response. I am
sending it to you hoping to get a prompt reponse.
I am trying to overlay two layers. Each layers has several polygons (or
regions in MapInfo jargon). The new layer resulting from this overlay
should have attributes from my two previous layers. In addition new regions
may be created if regions from my two layers overlap. In ArcInfo I would
use "UNION" command. I don't know if there is a similar command in MapInfo.
I tried to use "Split" in MapInfo but did not get what I was looking for. I
also tried "Combine Objects Using Column" from "Table" or "Join" from
"Create Thematic Map". Unfortunately, in both cases I did not get the
result I was expecting.
By the way, I am using MapInfo 4.0 on a Mac platform, and I am new on this
list.
I will appreciate any help on this.
