I've had better results saving the acad drawing out as an R13 DXF and then
using the MapInfo Table Import function. I haven't used Universal
Translator much, but I ran into problems similar to what you are describing
using acad map's MIF out.
Also, be sure that you convert arcs to plines before exporting from acad to
MI!

Mapinfo 5.5. The arcs come over as a series of chords, which is okay, but
lately the chords don't seem to match up as well as they used to in earlier
versions. They seem to be all over the arc, not a nice uniform distance.
Is this normal? Has anyone else seen this? More importantly, is there a
cure?
