I have an application that allows the automatic printing of sections of a map. I have a grid set up and I loop through each region represented within the grid. I re-center a second map window to cover each grid cell / "Mapbook Page." I then open a layout based on the second window and print the layout using the "PrintWin" statement without the optional "Interactive" key. So far easy enough with no major hurdles to jump over. My problem is that in order to publish the maps I need to print each of them to an Encapsulated Postscript file. I use a printer driver that has this capability and I checked the box to print to file. The dialog that is opened by way of the printer driver is modal. This puts an end to any non-interactive behavior I was planning on. You are forced to enter the filename for each page printed. How can I print layouts to files using automation and pre-set the filename? Does anyone know of any system variables / buffers that I can pre-load with values that will allow the behavior I want? Should I consider saving the layout window as a file? What impact will this approach have on resolution and print quality? Any and all suggestions will be taken seriously, whether they are "outside the box" or with, and greatly appreciated. Patrick J.
