Hello All.

I have asked this question before but never figured out a solution, so
I'm going to ask again:

I have the 1996 PCCF for Ontario, Canada. I have established the
appropriate fields (27 in total) based on the documentation provided by
StatsCan. However, I have problems with the Latitude and Longitude
columns. The data as it is presently looks something like this (with
data structure in brackets).

Latitude Longitude
45.144566 (decimal 9,6) -76.226044 (character 11)

If I change the Longitude to (decimal 9,6) all the values change to -9.
I'm thinking I might be able to do something by converting the
longitudes to a positive value as opposed to the given negative value.
Am I correct?

It follows that the table as it exists now, will not allow me to "create
points", therefore is not really "mappable" (a requirement for
geocoding?).

Also, by studying a 'working' PCCF file from 1991 I see that the
Latitude/Longitude columns are Decimal (6,0) and Decimal (7,0),
respectively. The result is a reference that reads:

Latitude Longitude
432,237 792,193

The 1991 table also contains UTM references. Is it possible to add 2 new
columns with the lat/long converted to UTM x/y coordinates for the 1996
data?

Is anyone at all familiar with geocoding using the PCCF?

I'll be grateful for any help you can give.

Cheers,
Sharon
