Thanks to all who replied. Most suggested that the possible cause might be that the table structure or field names had changed since the workspace was created. Although this would definitely cause the error message "Variable or field ID not defined", this has not been the cause in my experience. I've checked my files and in most cases when I get this error, the table structure has not been changed. While the cause remains a mystery, a simple fix was proposed by Jason Veale and Andrew Hayes. Doing a search and replace on the workspace file using a text editor to replace ID with col1 in each "Label With" statement is quick and relatively painless. This apparently tells MapInfo to label with whatever is in the first column of the table regardless of what it is named. Andrew even sent me the URL of a freeware search and replace tool that will batch process workspaces: http://www.orbit.org/replace/ <http://www.orbit.org/replace/> Phil Dupler Senior Planner ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
