G'Day Folks,

My apologies if this question has been answered a thousand times... but
sifting through the numerous DXF/DWG references in the archive didnt seem to
illuminate me. So, here goes...

Mapinfo User Level: Basic (Newbie!)

I have some DXF / DWG files (cadastre) from an unknown source. I wish to try
to import them into Mapinfo. I'm not sure what projection they are in... so
when I import them they turn, by default, to non-earth. How do I:

a. Identify (if possible!) what the projections are (without knowing the
origin) so I can import then / translate them into the projection system I
normally use; or

b. change the DXF/DWG imported tabs (non-earth projection) to a locally used
popular projection (eg. Australian Map Grid Zone 56/1) so I can use them.

Any help or illumination for this newbie much appreciated. The Mapinfo
manuals are truly woeful!

Thanks,

Ian
