Have you tried using the "count()" aggregate function in the sql select
dialog.  This will produce a query table containing a column of all
unique occurances of your nominated column in the base table, a count of
how many times this value/entry occurs, plus any other columns you
nominate.  Using this would be infinitely easier than exporting to excel
I would imagine.
