I think there exist a problem within how MapX creates tables using the createlayer method. Since the new table has a single field and only a single field 'geoname'it is not possible to create a table with multiple columns of data. So the importation of a MID/MIF would be limited to the first column of data and the object associated with it. With that being said, the only way to actually import or populate a table from a MID / MIF would be to have a skeleton table with no data, the correct columns already created, then just import only the objects and fill in the fields with the associated data bound to the object. The problem with this is you need to create the initial table with mapinfo. All sounds kind of dumb doesn't it. If anyone has found a different way of doing this in MapX I'd be interested in hearing it, and also might volunteer some of my time on such a project since I have most of the other code aready written. > MapX users have to write their own import routine for MID/MIF > files. It's not hard, but it is tedious and takes some time.
