Hi: I am looking to find the distance between a number of points along a network of streets (in this cases, houses and bus stops). Does anyone know the simplest way to do this? The distances have to be along the network, not "as the crow flies". Since people can't walk though fences, other peoples' yards, etc, the shortest walk to the stop will be along the streets. The points are not actually on the polylines (streets) although I could assign them to a link to simplify things. While I'm interested in knowing if any of the routing programs I've seen for MapInfo can do this type of analysis, I don't think they do this type of analysis and I also need something quickly (and cheaply). I would be interested in knowing if there are programs available that can handle transit analysis as I could budget to buy a program in the long run. Most of these programs seem to calculate the shortest or quickest distance between points. In the transit field, many of the routes are already fixed and we need to do analysis based on these (such as service coverage or changing only one route to see what happens). Thanks for the assistance.
