Well I've finally seen something unexpectedly awesome from MapInfo, Vertical Mapper and Virtual Frontier. I was talking to Steve Bauch at Northwood Geoscience, he's the Virtual Frontier rep there that I have been dealing with at work. I work for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Halifax Nova Scotia. Our particular office uses MapInfo / Vertical Mapper and at my urgings has recently purchased Virtual Frontier. Using 3DLabs Oxygen VX1 32 MB video card and our PIII 600 NT machine we can now use 3D panchromatic glasses to view Vertical Mapper and Virtual Frontier visualizations on screen in jump off the screen 3D! Vertical Mapper grids in MapInfo map windows, 3D Viewer and Virtual Frontiers flight window are really 3D! Not sure if anyone out there new it though. I talked to Steve and he didn't know that Virtual Frontier did it, nor Vertical Mapper. It seems that the 3D effect is entirely the result of how the graphics card displays the info on the monitor. I'm not sure what other graphics cards can do it but 3DLabs Oxygen VX1 card can. It is so incredible watching the terrain fly by in Virtual Frontier in true 3D!! Great news huh people, Stan Johnston Geologist ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
