Hi Karl.
I have been using MapInfo and MapXSite with SQL Server through ASP.
We have found that the performance of SQL SERVER is acceptable, especially
if you  make good use of stored procedures.
Check the following mapping web site we have developped at
http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/dfrp/. The database used on the mapping side and
data side is SQL Server.
